Reviewing higher-rise living for families

What we did

The London Borough of Enfield was experiencing some local opposition to new higher rise buildings in the borough, as well as some challenges with their existing high rise stock. We were commissioned to undertake research into successful higher rise housing, and to come up with an enhanced set of design standards for the borough. We undertook the following work:

  • Researching into Enfield’s higher rise housing stock

  • Analysing existing social research into living at high rise for families on lower incomes

  • Researching into build and operational costs of higher rise blocks

  • Producing a final report with conclusions about how LBE should approach higher rise buildings

  • Proposing enhanced new build standards for higher rise blocks
